It’s not often tech-giants give out their products for free, so when they do you gotta be ready to snap it up.
The good news is that for those who have recently bought Microsoft Office, or are planning to soon; you are eligible to receive the next version for free!
Everyone who purchases a qualified version of Microsoft Office between 19th October 2012 and 30th April 2013 will be able to receive the next version of Office (Office 365 Home Premium or another qualifying edition, like Office Home and Student 2013), when they become available.
The whole process is very simple:
- Purchase, install, and activate a qualifying version of MS Office between now and 30th April, 2013
- Sign up to Microsoft email notifications through Microsoft.com to be notified when offer can be redeemed
- Download the new office free when you receive your notification email.
In order to be eligible, you have to have purchased one of the following products:
Office Home and Student 2010
Office Home and Business 2010
Office Professional 2010
Office University 2010
Office for Mac Home & Student 2011
Office for Mac Home & Business 2011
Office for Mac University 2011
If you buy individual applications like MS Office Word 2010, you will be able to download the 2013 version, like Office 2013, when it becomes available.
However, there are restrictions on this deal. The following versions are not qualified for this offer:
Office 2010 and Office for Mac 2011 products obtained from anywhere other than a retail store, online retailer, reseller or direct original equipment manufacturer
Not-For-Resale or promotional Office 2010 product
Trial versions of Office 2010 product
Office Starter 2010
Office 2010 product purchased through the Volume Licensing Program
Office 2010 product purchased through the Home Use Program
Office 2010 product purchased through the Student Select Program
Office 2007 or earlier versions
Mac users take note: purchases of Office for Mac Home and Student 2011 and Office for Mac Home and Business 2011 only qualify for the Office 365 Home Premium upgrade.
In terms of specs, for Office 2013 or Office 365, you will need a computer with Windows 7 or Windows 8 operating system, and for Macs, the minimum requirement is OS X version 10.5.8 or later.
This deal will require internet access, and has an estimated download of 2.6GB. The offer must be redeemed before 30th April, 2013, and as usual, your receipts must be retained as proof of purchase and eligibility.
If you were holding out for the new version of MS Office, now you can have your cake and eat it too. Buy the current version and rest easy knowing that Office 2013 is waiting just around the corner for you (for free!).
