Take a victory-lap, internet-speculators, because you were right!
The Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini was launched today in Germany with all the rumoured specs bang on the money.
The Galaxy SIII Mini does indeed sport a 4-inch, 480 x 800 Super AMOLED display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal memory, 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, front-facing VGA snapper, NFC, microSD card slot and a 1,500mAh battery!
Weighing in at a mere 111.5 grams the Mini is easier on your pocket, and lighter to hold than the SIII, but it is slightly thicker with measurements of 121.55 x 63 x 9.85mm.
As expected, the Mini does not perform at the same high level as the SIII: the chip used in is dual core, rather than quad core, and the camera is only five megapixels instead of eight.
We’ve mentioned before that the Mini will be a more direct competitor to the iPhone 5 with its reduced size. The Samsung Galaxy SIII Mini display is 480 x 800 while the iPhone 5 display is 1,136 x 640. However, the Galaxy S3 Mini lacks 4G LTE networking, which the iPhone 5 and Galaxy S3 both support.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini isn’t as powerful as the original, but Samsung says the device “can be an optimal choice for consumers who are looking for more practical smartphones.”
So for those who are thinking about entering the smartphone-race, this is the perfect first smartphone for you!
